Sixth Annual Golf Tournament Successful

Karuna Charities’ Sixth Annual Golf Tournament was held at the Reston National Golf Club, Reston, Virginia on Saturday, June 6, 2005.

The golfers were teed off at 10:00 a.m. Sixty-seven golfers registered for the event.

The Indian Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Raminder Jassal and India’s star cricketer, Mr. Kapil Dev added were special guests and added charm and zest to the fine occasion.

The golfers were flagged off by the president, Mrs. Amrit Kalotra. At the end of the day, there was a prize distribution ceremony followed by a barbeque.

The golf committee consisted of Sathya Devi Roy, Anita Raj, Joe Ratra, Jeff Wycliff, Charan Ahluwalia, Ajay Kalotra.

The barbeque committee was composed of Promila Banik, Savita Malhotra, Kavita Kuthelea. Sangita Kalotra, Puspe Raje.

The fundraising committee consisted of Amrit Kalotra, Kanti Singhm Jasbir Sethi,Bina Dhir, Sujata Avasthi.

Golf was followed by awards and a delicious barbecue dinner.

The following prizes were awarded:  

Lowest Drive Front Nine	Karuna Team Champion, 2005
Longest Drive Back Nine	Karuna Men’s Champion 2005
Closest to the Pin Front Nine	Karuna’s Senior Champion, 2005
Closest to the Pin Back Nine	Karuna Champion, 2005

And, the Kiran Kadian Memorial Cup, 2005 in memory of our dear colleague who passed away in December was also awarded. Kiran is survived by her husband, Rajesh, two daughters and a son.
